Lorraine Smith MBA, MT(ASCP)SH, CEO

Lorraine Smith currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer at Monroe County Hospital, Atrium Health Navicent Partner, where she oversees the day-to-day operations for the hospital.She works closely with the hospital’s board and senior leaders to focus on quality and the patient experience; financial and operational strength; and relationship building with staff, physicians, and the community.

Lorraine has over 20 years of healthcare experience in positions of increasing responsibility to include various clinical laboratory and leadership positions at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Atrium Health Navicent.Lorraine was recognized in Becker’s Hospital Review 2022 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know.

Lorraine is a strong advocate for continuous process improvement and thus was chosen as an American Society for Clinical Pathology’s 2016 40 under 40 honoree and to serve as a Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner. She leverages her Six Sigma Black Belt certification to drive performance excellence to include preparing Atrium Health Navicent Peach and Monroe County Hospital, Atrium Health Navicent Partner to become ISO 9001 certified.

Lorraine earned her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Stony Brook University in New York.

In addition to her work in the healthcare field, Lorraine serves as a member of the United States Army Reserve for over 20 years. She is currently the Command Sergeant Major for 3rd Battalion 323rd Regiment (Basic Combat Training), 98th Training Division. In 2003, she was deployed as a team leader to Iraq in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Lorraine resides with her family in Bonaire, GA including her two amazing children Isabella (nine) and Cooper (seven).
