Pre-Operative Appointment

If you are coming to Monroe County Hospital for surgery, a pre-operative appointment will be scheduled by someone from our staff. You will be called prior to your procedure for either a phone interview or to set up a face to face appointment. If you have a pre-operative appointment scheduled, you will need to go to the outpatient registration office at the front of the building to pre-register. Please bring your insurance card and all paperwork given to you by your medical doctor pertaining to your procedure with you.

Once you are registered, the Surgical nurse will complete a health history, review your current medications, get your signature on consent forms, and review your tests. The nurse will answer questions you may have, prepare you for your procedure, and tell you the time to arrive at the hospital.

Your pre-operative visit will take about an hour and may include x-rays, Electrocardiogram (EKG), blood work, and other laboratory studies. Test results, consultation reports, and other data will be reviewed. Any concerns will be brought to the attention of your physician and the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

If further testing or additional consultation is necessary, you will be notified by telephone. Our goal is to identify and correct potential complicating factors so that your surgery will proceed as planned.
