Letters and Comments From Those We Serve
Letter of compliment

Attention: Hospital Administrator and Director of Nursing
My mother, ____________, was in your hospital for over a week prior to her death on January 28th.
My mother was 80 years old, suffering from end-stage emphysema and general deterioration of her health because of her age and the emphysema. From the moment she was admitted, she was treated with the utmost kindness and tender, loving care that I have ever seen in a hospital. Dr. Smith has been her doctor for as long as he has practiced in Forsyth, and she thought the world of him, as her family does, for taking such good care of her, especially these last few years. She also spent over a week in the hospital there when her illness first began its worst stage over a year ago. She received the same excellent care then.
The nurses were amazing. They treated mama like she was their own mother or grandmother. We all knew that the end of her life was near and the family came from several states away to see her. We were always given the greatest courtesy and the nurses continually offered to help us in any way they could. As we took turns staying with mama, they took care of us as well, offering coffee or water or soft drinks. We only had to push the nurse call button and they were there almost instantly.
I have been in big hospitals, as have many of us, and believe me, you dont get the personal care that you get in a small-town hospital like yours.
I hope Monroe County appreciates what they have in your medical staff. Again, my special thanks to the wonderful nurses. They couldnt have cared for my mother any better. They tried everything to make her comfortable.
On behalf of my entire family, please be sure this letter of gratitude reaches the nursing director and staff and anyone else who cares to read it.
Sincerely,
Betty Stuart Ruffin

Everyone was great! Thanks.
What a wonderful hospital experience! The difference between MCH & previous hospitalizations I've experienced are like night and day. There is genuine care & concern for each individual patient and that makes all the difference. I am proud to tell anyone that Im a MCH employee and will happily spread the news about what great care I received on the patient end!

Attention: Hospital Administrator and/or Director of Nursing
In mid October 2006, my sister-in-law, Cynthia Chandler, Cindy, was admitted through your ER from Hilltop Healthcare with bilateral pneumonia and MRSA. She was stung by a wasp in May, 2002 and subsequently suffered global anoxic brain damage. Sadly, she couldnt speak, eat or even move a finger. We had cared for her at home until April, 2006.
She was a patient at your hospital for about 2 ½ weeks at which time some improvement was made and she was transferred back to Hilltop. Unfortunately, within a few days, she became very ill and was transferred back to your ER where she passed away during the night of November 5th.
From the very beginning at your hospital, Cindy and our entire family were treated with kindness and respect. The ER doctor and nurses were wonderful. When Cindy was moved to the ICU, the family was promptly given a room because we live about 1 ½ hours away. The nurse even took time to make the guest bed for my mom. Cindys husband and three children were able to stay in the room. This was a wonderful thing to do for the family.
This is a very sad time in our family, remembering the life and loss of a beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend. Cindy leaves behind a husband (my brother) and 3 children, ages 13, 18 and 23. The last 4 ½ years of her life were very painful and tragic. But we find comfort that she spent the last 2 weeks in the hands of your staff, people that reflected the type of person Cindy was
kind-hearted, caring and friendly. I was worried about not remembering any names of doctors and nurses, but were names really necessary when everyone at your hospital spoke with the same voice? That voice was one of treating the patient and family in a professional, dignified, and extremely caring fashion.
Thank you for the kindness and attention afforded Cindy and our family. We will never forget the little hospital in Forsyth with the big heart.
Best regards,
Judith C. Lanier, R.N., B.S.N.

A special thank you to Judy McMillian and Larry Jones, they are truly professional and an asset to this hospital. Their bed side manner certainly made me feel more comfortable, a thank you to the rest of the nursing staff.
All interactions were excellent in all areas. The dietary services were excellent as was the food. Communication was positive and in a friendly manner with utmost courtesy. This has been the best hospital stay she has had in years. Please accept our thanks and gratitude to each of you.
